Posted on July 28, 2015July 29, 2015 Day 101: Prettiest day yet July 22nd Day 101 Mileage 19 I thought that today was the most beautiful day we’ve had on the trail. No contest. Better than the High Sierra. I don’t know what it was, but I just thought it was stunning. I’ll let the pictures do the talking. An actual road… with double yellow lines and everything! Yes, we get a little bored sometimes, ok? But it’s different from regular dirt trail, so bring on the novelty! More rain clouds. What a surprise! Let the views begin! Some pretty flower that I’ve never seen before. What do you think it is, Nana? Yeah… that’s the trail. We saw more wildflowers today than you can shake a stick at. Just gorgeous! Plague: it’s not just for the Middle Ages anymore! Sometimes I can capture an everyday moment that embodies what the PCT is to me. This is that picture today. It’s nothing flashy, and will never make a postcard, but it feels honest. This is what I see all the time, and it feels beautiful in that familiar way, like an old love. Tables bend before our will. We picnic like absolute champs at this point! Day hikers just gawk. What a bunch of townies they are! Random passerby see us and are intimidated by our spread (aka our pack explosion), and rightfully so. It’s impressive. Tables exist to be filled with our hiker detritus. Hah! Caitlin is tired after a long day. We did 3.2 miles an hour for about 30 minutes at the end of the day today. This is Caitlin in the middle of it. Oh and by the way, this is what the trail looks like a lot of the time around here… Very overgrown. Seriously, it was views like this all day.
